The collection was initiated via focused acquisition of 9 out of 100 pieces of the Incomplete Control series by Tyler Hobbs, including edition #90, which is well regarded as the grail of the collection.
With Incomplete Control as its foundation, GrailersDAO aims to expand its collection to include other other grails, including plans to work directly with acclaimed generative artists to produce future grail collections.

Each NFT entitles membership and access to the Discord community, and serves as a governance token representing one vote in any decisions made by the DAO. This includes governance of the treasury and NFTs held by the DAO.
Issued NFTs can be purchased from OpenSea and marketplaces, or directly from existing members.

There will only ever be 999 GrailersDAO NFTs.
There is a final set of GrailersDAO NFTs that have not been minted yet (which is why the GrailersDAO NFT collection on OpenSea currently shows a total of less than 999 NFTs). The DAO may decide to open another round for mint, or we may collectively decide to distribute the remaining GrailersDAO NFTs for other reasons and in other ways. Join us on Discord to help decide!
Prior to the Incomplete Control (IC) mints, there were three tranches of GrailersDAO NFTs minted:- The first tranche was minted at 0.6 ETH, which allowed us to acquire Grailer ICs 1-4.
- The second (smaller) tranche was minted at 1.25 ETH, which allowed us to acquire Grailer ICs 5-6.
- The third tranche was minted at 2.25 ETH, allowing us to acquire Grailer ICs 7-9.
We have also distributed over 40 NFTs to reward community contributors and artists.
Owning a GrailersDAO NFT does not come with fractional ownership of the GrailersDAO NFT grail art collection. Each GrailersDAO NFT provides you with one governance vote over what the DAO does with its treasury. Currently, our treasury is composed of ETH, artworks, and some additional GrailersDAO NFTs.
Owning a GrailersDAO NFT enables you to verify as a holder on Discord which, in turn, provides you access to all members-only channels. The DAO is also working on additional perks for holders, including working directly with artists to produce artworks.
Each GrailersDAO NFT will be convertible to a piece of generative art by Art Blocks Curated artist Stefano Contiero with mechanics and timeline to be determined.

A “Grail” might be defined as a single artwork that stands out above the rest, an outlier: unique, stunning, and extremely sought-after. Grails loosely refer to outstanding outputs from top collections (e.g. “The Goose” Ringers #879 or the “God Mode” Fidenza #938), or potentially any output from extraordinary collections of outstanding generative artists (e.g. The Eternal Pump or Incomplete Control).
As a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), we are interested in collecting “Grail” artworks for which we have a particularly high chance of collecting them before they reach their eventual, unobtainable valuation. On top of that, we (potentially) seek to take part in creating our own Grail NFT artwork series.
Tyler Hobbs is one of the leading generative artists working today. His Fidenza series was truly groundbreaking: with market valuations reaching astronomical heights. The Incomplete Control series presented the GrailersDAO with an opportunity to collect an equally impressive (or even more impressive!) series of artworks that further pushes the boundaries on what generative art can be.
We are focused on other initiatives and are not actively conducting art acquisitions right now. As such, it is very unlikely that we will decide to collect your artwork. That being said, if you feel like you have a true grail, join our Discord and introduce yourself and your art to us.

A GrailersDAO membership is directly connected to the possession of at least 1 GrailersDAO NFT. If you wish to leave the GrailersDAO, you can simply sell your GrailersDAO NFT(s).
GrailersDAO was co-created by @cnfsdcollector and @wirjo, and later joined by @aaronbird, and also @stefan_contiero who will be producing the artwork for the GrailersDAO NFTs.
The DAO treasury is stored in a secure Gnosis Safe multi-sig wallet, which requires 4 out of 7 signatures to take any action (verify here). The multi-sigs were nominated and voted on by GrailersDAO members. The signers (or multi-sigs) on the safe are currently:

None of the key contributors have special decision-making power or authority, aside from certain discretionary duties as voted on by DAO membership, such as negotiating to acquire an artwork, or recruiting an artist to join the DAO community.The DAO is goverened through collective decision-making. This includes but not limited to, discussions around spending, raising funds, branding, and all key initiatives for the DAO. We do soft votes (votes on Discord) and decide if something should be added to Snapshot for a formal vote by NFT holders.
